Alliance University hosted the fourth edition of the Alliance Literary Festival (ALF 4.0) from 13 to 15 February 2025. The festival was a platform for discussions on literature, culture, and intellectual exchange. Centred around the theme ‘The Asian Century,’ the event highlighted Asia\u2019s role in shaping global culture, politics and the economy. The festival brought together literary enthusiasts, scholars, diplomats and policymakers.<\/p>\n
Panel Discussions and Key Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n The festival featured discussions on Asia\u2019s economic growth, the impact of migration, environmental issues, the role of athletes and the region\u2019s contributions to education, sports and innovation. The exchange of ideas encouraged cultural preservation and societal change. Sessions on regional literature and translation focused on Kannada and Tamil literary traditions. A special performance of Chhau dance from West Bengal added to the festival\u2019s cultural aspect.<\/p>\n Speakers and Participants<\/strong><\/p>\n ALF 4.0 featured over 120 speakers from more than 25 countries. Notable speakers included Javed Akhtar, Indian screenwriter and lyricist; Asako Yuzuki, Japanese author; Anil Kumble, sportsman; Palki Sharma Upadhyay, journalist; Perumal Murugan, Indian author; Sanjay Patel, Indian American animator and director at Pixar; and Rajdeep Sardesai, journalist. The sessions included interactive Q&A discussions, meet-the-author events and book signings.<\/p>\n Asia\u2019s Cultural and Literary Influence<\/strong><\/p>\n Asia has been a centre of innovation and storytelling for centuries. From ancient philosophical texts to contemporary literature, Asia\u2019s contributions have influenced global thought. ALF 4.0 recognised this legacy while exploring Asia\u2019s role in global narratives. The discussions highlighted how literature and cultural expressions continue to shape ideas and perspectives.<\/p>\n Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n The festival saw attendees engaging in discussions, creative exchanges and cultural events. Key discussions addressed Asia\u2019s economic position, the impact of its athletes, migration and diaspora, environmental concerns and the future of education and innovation. The festival provided a platform for dialogue on Asia\u2019s transformation in the modern era.
